Chess has been found to improve academic performance in children who play chess regularly, and thus, chess has an important role in today's schools.
Emmanuel Chess Centre has been playing an important role in bringing chess right into the school.
Currently, ECC is conducting a chess program at the American International School Chennai. Here, chess is taught as part of the after school activities program. Classes are held for the students of American school who are interested in chess, once a week, for an hour.
At the end of the year, all children who attended chess class are awarded certificates. Tournaments are also held and prizes given.
